A Rusty Monitor, Varanus semiremex, peers out at the photographer at the Cairns Aquarium in Australia. This species looks quite similar to the Komodo dragon and according to the fossil record, there used to be a monitor lizard in Australia which was even larger than the present day  Komodo Dragon.

Bearded Dragons live in drier parts of Australia, and are quite popular as pets. This one is at the Cairns aquarium, where people are allowed to touch him and pick him up.

These lizards are called Land Mullets and are one of the largest skinks in the world. These two are warming up at the Cairns Aquarium. The zoological name is Brellatorius major.
